Huawei might be a company known more for their mobile products like smartphones, but in recent times and with the rise of wearables, it did not exactly come as a surprise to see the company attempt to break into the market with the launch of the Huawei Watch, a smartwatch that is powered by Google’s Android Wear platform.
The good news is that if you have been waiting for the Android 6.0 update for the Huawei Watch, it seems that you won’t have to wait much longer as the update has been scheduled to roll out today. This has been confirmed in Huawei’s forums in which a customer care rep replied to a thread confirming its release.
According to the rep, “The Huawei Watch update will be version 6.0, release MEC23L. This will be an OTA due for release beginning today.” The update will be introducing some new features, like a revamped do not disturb feature, new wrist gestures, and permission control. The best part of the update is the enabling of the watch’s speaker.
This means that the device can technically be used to make and receive phone calls, all the while your phone remains tucked away in your bag or pocket. The update should be rolled out today, but if you don’t see it yet, keep checking as it should be available, unless Huawei is rolling it out slowly in which you can then expect it in the next few days or weeks.
