About a week ago, Sony announced that they will be releasing both the Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact in the US. The handsets were priced at $599 and $499 respectively, which is admittedly still rather pricey considering that they are last year’s models and that certain features are not present, like the fingerprint scanner.
The good news is that if you’re still on the fence thinking about whether or not it is worth it to drop that amount of money on either device, you will be pleased to learn that it looks like both phones have had their price cut. The Xperia Z5 is now priced at $539.99, while the Xperia Z5 Compact is priced at $449.99, receiving price cuts of $60 and $50 respectively.
It’s not a particularly huge cut, but it is still savings nonetheless and should hopefully make the phones more desirable, despite lacking certain features. We’re not sure what took Sony so long to bring the phones to the US, but we suppose better late than never. Sony is expected to be at MWC 2016, but whether or not we will see the Xperia Z6 remain to be seen.
So far we haven’t really heard anything about the Xperia Z6, although the rumors are suggesting that it will only launch in H2 2016. Until then if you’d like to get your hands on either handset, head on over to Amazon (Xperia Z5 / Xperia Z5 Compact) to make your purchase.
