Samsung announced that those who pre-order the Galaxy S7 or the Galaxy S7 Edge will be getting a free Gear VR headset. However if you’re still unsure and want to wait this out, it seems that if you were to purchase the handset from Verizon, the deal will still be valid. However on top of that, it looks like Verizon will be giving customers the option of either having the Gear VR or the Gear S2 smartwatch.
According to Verizon, “If you purchase a Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 edge on device payment at vzw.com, you’ll be eligible to receive a free Gear VR or Gear S2.” However as pointed out by the carrier, this is only valid for online purchases, but if you prefer buying from Verizon’s stores instead, you will be given a different offer.
The Gear VR will still be free, but the Gear S2 promotion is only $100 off, meaning you’ll still have to pay for the rest of it yourself. “For in-store transactions, you’ll be eligible to receive a free Gear VR and get $100 off Gear S2 with a new 2-year activation.” It does not mention that this is a pre-order only offer, so it looks like even if you missed the pre-orders, you should be able to get in on this deal.
However we expect that this deal might not necessarily be permanent and could also be limited to however many units they have of the Gear VR and Gear S2, so either way you’ll want to hurry if you want to cash in on it.
