Titanfall proved to be a very successful game even though it was an Xbox exclusive and was also released for PC. It was reported last year that Titanfall 2 is going to be multi-platform and that it could have a traditional single-player campaign as well. In a new interview Jesse Stern, the lead writer who worked on the first game as well, confirms that Titanfall 2 will have a single-player campaign.
According to Stern, Respawn Entertainment actually started developing Titanfall 2 in late 2014 but isn’t sure if the title will be released in late 2016 or in early 2017. EA has previously said that Titanfall 2 will be released in fiscal 2017 which runs from April 1st, 2016 to March 31st, 2017.
The lead writer also said that multiplayer in the new game is going to be “even better,” and as previously reported, he believes that Titanfall 2 will be released on both PlayStation and Xbox.
As for what the story is going to focus on, Stern says it’s going to be about “grand colonial warfare,” basically the retelling of the American Revolution and the America Civil War, albeit in space. “In Titanfall 2 there will be a lot of [scenes] where science meets magic, but keeping it grounded and dirty and human and real,” he said.
Stern also revealed that a Titanfall spinoff TV show is in the pipeline over at Lionsgate TV. “We are trying to find a way to tell a story in the worlds we want to be in and produce in the TV model,” he told Forbes in the interview.
