Tidal, Jay-Z’s music streaming service, is trying to compete in a very competitive market where the likes of Spotify make it quite hard for newcomers to amass a sizeable user base. It may be a hi-fidelity music streaming service but that doesn’t really mean much to the average user that doesn’t have the right equipment to enjoy that kind of a music experience and isn’t really interested in paying a premium for the privilege. Tidal has ventured into original programming to make its service more appealing and today it has released a new teaser for its first TV show.
Money & Violence is Tidal’s first TV series though the show itself has been around for over a year. The series first debuted on YouTube but almost ended last year after failing to crowdfund the second season. Tidal stepped in and saved the show.
If you haven’t already watch the first season of Money & Violence then this trailer won’t make much sense to you. The show itself is set in Flatbush, Brooklyn and is described by creator Moise Verneau as “an authentic depiction of life in the urban jungle.”
The second season of Money & Violence, all 12 episodes, will be available on Tidal come February 9th. It will only be exclusive to the music streaming service for one week as the second season will then be available on YouTube from February 16th.
