According to Moonves, “We had conversations awhile back, and we haven’t had recent conversations with them.” This more or less corroborates what Moonves had said last year when he revealed that Apple had put their plans on hold. A report from last month suggested that Apple was frustrated with their inability to launch the program.
Apparently it was difficult to try and work out something that worked to Apple’s advantage, but at the same time was also beneficial for programmers like ESPN. Some claim that Apple’s pricing plan was not sitting well with content providers, while others claim that it might have to do with the channels that Apple is planning on bundling.
Note that Apple has yet to officially announce anything about a streaming service, but so far it seems that executives from content providers have more or less confirmed it. Will we be seeing it launch anytime soon? Based on what we are hearing, it doesn’t seem like it, but we’ll keep our eyes peeled all the same.
