Star Girls Burlesque Show Kicks Off In San Francisco

Just how many ways are there to monetize the Star Wars franchise? It looks like we are far from milking the franchise dry, as here we are with yet another interpretation on what the Star Wars universe would be like. Star Girls, which can be deemed to be one of the nerdiest burlesque shows you have seen to date, pays homage to Star Wars for its kinky re-imagination of the universe. After all, where else can you find a near-naked cross-dressing Luke Skywalker fiddle on an electric violin?

It was in January that Star Girls: The Force is A-Shakin’ debuted, and 37 year old Courtney Cruz, who has been in the burlesque scene for 13 years now as a dancer and producer, shared, “I like the direction of the new movie. I like that they decided to try something new. Bringing in the new generation cast is a great way to inspire people to check out the old movies.”

Those living in LA will definitely be familiar with Star Girls, and it is nice to see the entire troop move forward as they are bringing the Star Girls show on tour for the very first time. After all, what better way to begin the entire saga than at the very beginning? It will play at the DNA Lounge in San Francisco today Friday.
