It Looks Like Sprint Has Brought Back The 2-Year Contract

Ever since T-Mobile announced they were doing away with 2-year contracts, many carriers have since followed suit, including Sprint who was kind of late to the party by only announcing it earlier this year. However it seems that did not last because a report from FierceWireless has revealed that the carrier has changed their mind.

While many carriers have done away with 2-year contracts, Sprint has decided to bring it back. According to Sprint spokeswoman Michelle Leff Mermelstein, “We listened to our customers and are giving them more choices to get their new device. Sprint is the only carrier to offer the most choices to obtain a new device — lease, installment bill, two-year contract or pay full retail price.”

However for those who don’t like the contract, fret not because the 2-year contract is in addition to whatever else the carrier was offering before. Right now there are four options for customers to choose from: monthly installments, a 2-year contract, a leasing model, or pay outright for the device they are buying.

For those unfamiliar, many carriers have done away with the 2-year contract. This means that phones aren’t subsidized anymore, but rather customers get the option of paying it back over a period of time as part of an installment plan. However with Sprint bringing back the contract, they are one of the few carriers who are offering subsidies if that’s what you’re going for.
