This is the latest chipset announced by Qualcomm that has been designed specifically for wearables. According to Qualcomm, the Snapdragon Wear 2100 is both smaller and more energy efficient than its predecessors. Given that battery life is one of the main concerns when it comes to wearables, this should be a welcome upgrade.
Also by making it smaller (30% smaller than previous generations, according to Qualcomm), it will allow OEMs to create smaller/thinner wearables. The company claims that it will be ideal for a range of wearables, such as smartwatches, trackers, headsets, smart eyewear, and more. They even claim that there are numerous wearables powered by the Snapdragon Wear 2100 in development, although we have no idea what they are at the moment.
Unfortunately it is unclear as to how much better it will perform compared to its predecessors, especially since there are no tests, reviews, or benchmarks available, so we guess we’ll just have to wait for its release to find out.
