Qualcomm Confirms Snapdragon 820 For The LG G5

The LG G5 will be officially announced this coming Sunday as confirmed by LG themselves. However the company has yet to officially confirm its specs, but safe to say that as we’ve seen in previous LG flagships, chances are they will be turning to Qualcomm’s latest chipset for the LG G5 as well.

This has since been confirmed by Qualcomm who posted on Twitter that it looks like we will be able to expect the Snapdragon 820 chipset to find its way into the LG G5. This shouldn’t really be surprising as Qualcomm has become one of the main choices for a lot of smartphone OEMs, and the Snapdragon 820 is expected to be the de facto chip for a lot of flagships this year, not just the LG G5.

For example we expect that the Snapdragon 820 will also end up powering the HTC One M10, the Samsung Galaxy S7 (or at least some of its variants), and possibly even the Sony Xperia Z6. Hopefully this will make up for last year where Qualcomm was under fire over claims that the Snapdragon 810 ran hotter than usual, which allegedly forced Samsung to skip Qualcomm’s chipsets in their flagship phones for 2016.

In any case we expect the Snapdragon 820 to be a lot better – faster and more energy-efficient – but either way do check back with us this coming Sunday for the official confirmation of the LG G5’s specs.
