A couple of years ago, Snapchat launched Geofilters. For those unfamiliar with this feature, basically this is a filter that you can apply to your snaps depending on where you are. Snapchat later rolled out Geofilters for sports where you could add the live scores of ongoing sporting games while you are watching it live.
So far Geofilters have been largely “general”, meaning that they apply to areas like cities or towns, as opposed to specific landmarks. However the good news is that if you’re a business owner that would love to have their own Geofilter, you’re in luck because Snapchat has announced that they will now let users create their own designs.
According to Snapchat, “On-Demand Geofilters let you create and publish a Geofilter for your party, wedding, business, or any other place or event. It’s a fun way to help your friends or customers decorate their Snaps, wherever they are!” However take note that it will not be free as users will need to pay a fee.
According to Snapchat, On-Demand Geofilters will be priced starting at $5 and users can choose to have it valid for the next hour, which might be applicable for concerts and one-day events, or having it last up to 30 days. Right now the feature is only available to those in the US, UK, and Canada. More details can be found on Snapchat’s website.
