ReFlex Smartphone Lives Up To Its Name

ReFlex: Revolutionary flexible smartphone allows users to feel the buzz by bending their apps.
Now here is a smartphone that many would be interested in – one that can flex and bend. Aptly called as the ReFlex, this happens to be a smartphone prototype which will merge an LG bendable 6” 720 x 1280 FOLED screen complete with multitouch capabilities, in addition to a sensor which is smart enough to figure out just the exact degree as to which the which the screen is bent. Revealed by the Queen’s University Human Media Lab, the ReFlex will rely on the flexible screen so that it can initiate select features.

A good example of that would be, as one holds down the right side of the display, the online pages will flip through fingers from right to left in the same manner where a book functions in real life. This prototype runs on Android 4.4, and imagine playing Angry Birds by bending the screen – ain’t that cool? The presence of haptic feedback lets one feel the slingshot tightening, too.

It is not as though there has been no flexible smartphones in the news before, as Samsung did patent a flexible smartphone last year, while Philips has come up with an interesting concept in addition to Samsung’s own concepts. LG themselves declared to mass produce flexible plastic OLED displays last year alone, so it looks like the back pockets of skinny jeans will be able to slip in handsets with no worries in the future.
