When you have something good that is going on, it makes perfect sense to have it continue for as long as possible. Otherwise, how else do you think that the Star Wars franchise has lasted till this day? Having said that, the Raspberry Pi certainly turned heads when it was first introduced close to half a decade ago, and has since come up with a sequel in the form of the Raspberry Pi 2, and now, we have an official announcement of the Raspberry Pi 3 Model B.
This particular announcement is of particular interest, especially since the Raspberry Pi 3 Model B is now the high end model that sports a 64-bit 1.2GHz quad-core chipset and 1GB of RAM, with it being cited to deliver more than a 50% power bump compared to its predecessor. The best part of it all is, there is no damage from inflation here, since the price remains at $35 a pop, which is what the original Model B Pi cost four years back.
I suppose one can see the Raspberry Pi 3 Model B opening doors to even more IoT devices as well as embedded projects, and Pi founder Eben Upton claimed, “This is the first Pi you can stick behind your TV and completely forget about.” The main draw would be integrated Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, as well as improved power management and an upgraded switched power source which enables it to support even more powerful external USB devices.
