There is the argument that by blocking VPNs, Netflix will basically transform paying customers watching shows legally, to potential pirates especially since they will no longer be able to access their favorite shows, assuming that those shows aren’t available in their current region. Turns out Popcorn Time has decided that maybe this is their time to shine.
So much so that the team behind it has launched Popcorn Time Online. According to them, “Popcorn Time Online is a web version and real revolution of the original Popcorn Time and based on its appeal and functionality. It will allow you to use all the great beloved features you previously had in your Popcorn Time software (and even more), directly from your browser!”
This means that users will no longer have to download the dedicated Popcorn Time app as they will be able to access it pretty much anywhere, like their computers, phones, tablets, laptops, and etc. However note that Popcorn Time is still very obviously illegal, meaning that you could potentially get into legal trouble if the studios decide to go after you.
This isn’t the first time that Popcorn Time has launched a direct web stream model, but this time round the team claims that they are here to stay, and have even made their technology open source, meaning that whoever is brave enough can essentially create their own website to allow for streaming as well. Like we said, it is illegal so do proceed at your own risk.
