PlayStation VR Will Launch In The Fall, According To GameStop’s CEO

sony playstation vrSo far as far as all-inclusive virtual reality headsets are concerned, both the Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive have release dates set. This means that the Sony PlayStation VR’s release is still up in the air. The only solid piece of information we have on the PlayStation VR is that it will not cost $800.

That being said, it looks like we might have a release date to look forward to. According to a recent interview with Fox News (via Attack of the Fanboy), GameStop’s CEO Paul Raines seemed to allude to the fact that the PlayStation VR will be launched in the fall of 2016. The interview consisted of Raines talking about how virtual reality would change the video game business, before he added that Sony’s PlayStation VR will be out later this year.

Given that GameStop sells games and gaming hardware, we suppose they would be in the know with regards to product releases, or at the very least would have some kind of inkling. Sony themselves have yet to officially announce when the PlayStation VR will be launched, but given that the competition is planning a launch this year, and with other players from the likes of Samsung and possibly even Google, it would make sense for them to get their product into the market ASAP.

Take it with a grain of salt for now, but hopefully we’ll have more information to share later this year, possibly during E3 2016.
