It’s common for successful TV series to be renewed for new seasons, often they’re renewed for a new season every year though it’s not uncommon to see a very successful show being renewed for multiple seasons at once. That’s precisely what Netflix is doing with Orange is the New Black, which has proven to be a massive hit for the online streaming service. It has renewed Orange is the New Black for not one, not two but three seasons straight.
Netflix usually takes it easy as well, announcing renewed season of successful shows every year, like it has done with House of Cards this year. It has only confirmed so far that season 5 of House of Cards will be released next year so the future of any subsequent seasons still hangs in the balance.
The first three seasons of Orange is the New Black has already got Netflix multiple award nominations and wins so it’s no surprise to see the show being renewed for multiple seasons. It will go on for three more years now which gives the writers and the showrunner plenty of time to further evolve the story.
Netflix timed this announcement with the release of the trailer for Orange is the New Black season 4. Like all previous releases Netflix is going to release all episodes of Orange is the New Black season 4 on June 17th.
