Omate Announces Wherecom K3 Smartwatch For Kids

Omate-Wherecom-K3When it comes to smartwatches and wearable tech, Omate is a company that has some experience in that field. However instead of launching new products at at adults, it seems that the company is turning their eye towards children and has recently announced the Wherecome K3, a smartwatch designed for kids in mind.

Note that Omate isn’t the first company to come up with such an idea. In the past we have seen other brands like the dokiWatch create watches for kids. Even the folks at ZTE who are known more for their phones have created wearables designed for children. As expected, the Wherecom K3 will come with features one might expect from such a device.

For starters it will restrict phone calls so that kids won’t go around on a calling spree. It also comes with built-in GPS and a location SOS button that kids can press in the event of an emergency. It also sports a kids-friendly user interface. Interestingly enough the Wherecom K3 will not be powered by Android Wear, but rather Android 5.1 Lollipop.

Other features include a 1.54-inch display with a resolution of 320×320, a 1GHz dual-core chipset, WiFi, Bluetooth, and swappable 20mm straps. Unfortunately there is no built-in camera. It is priced at $129 and is expected to be available this coming April.
