Keep your eyes peeled for an update notification today if you happen to own the NVIDIA Shield Android TV. Users have been made to wait patiently for this update and now the company is finally rolling it out. Users will get a pop-up dialogue notifying them that Experience Upgrade 3.0 is available, that’s a fancy name for the Marshmallow update.
Since it’s Marshmallow expect to find all of the goodies that come part and parcel of Android 6.0, this includes enhanced Permissions, as well as support for adoptable storage. It means that added storage can be encrypted once it been added to the device.
The Android TV user interface has also received some tweaks, it’s cleaner now with the focus on discovery and content management. Switching between installed apps is now easier and the categories have been improved for effortless content discovery.
Don’t expect major visual changes once you’ve updated the NVIDIA Shield Android TV to Marshmallow since this update is more about function than form. NVIDIA wants to keep the focus on the gaming prowess of this device and it’s going to be pretty hard to miss when you fire up the device for the first time.
Marshmallow for NVIDIA Shield Android TV is rolling out now, it should go live for everybody within a few hours.
