It has been rumored that Nikon could be joining the likes of Sony and Canon in releasing compact cameras with 1-inch sensor. Just the other day the rumors suggested that the upcoming cameras would be part of the Nikon DL lineup, and that there will apparently be at least three different models for customers to choose from.
Thanks to a recent post by Digicame-info (via Nikon Rumors), it seems that the first photo of the upcoming camera has been leaked. Like we said, it is expected that there will be three different models, so the photo you are looking at above is that of the 18-50mm f/1.8-2.8 lens, and we have to say that it looks rather interesting.
The body of the camera looks pretty compact, but the lens on the device is pretty huge, at least bigger than what we’ve seen from Sony or Canon. It’s actually a pretty good look and we have to say we do like the yellow ring around the lens as it adds a nice pop of color. Apart from that, we can also tell that the camera will have a couple of dials to change the camera’s mode, and there also appears to be a hot shoe.
It is possible that it could be for a flash unit, but the rumors are claiming that the camera will have an external EVF so maybe that’s what the hot shoe is for. The camera is also rumored to priced at 105,000 yen. No word on availability, but like we said before, CP+ is coming up so maybe we’ll learn more then.
