The good news is that it looks like Nikon Japan has recently announced (via Nikon Rumors) that the camera will now begin shipping on the 26th of March, so while we still have a delay of sorts, at least we have a date to look forward to. This date will also cover any accessories that might be related to the camera.
Nikon Rumors also adds that the delay will allow Nikon to update the firmware of the camera that will extend the camera’s ability to shoot in 4K for up to 29 minutes and 59 seconds. Prior to this, the camera was only able to shoot 4K for 3 minutes at a time, a rather odd feature to have considering the price of the camera and the fact that it is a flagship model..
That being, the Nikon D5 is priced at $6,499.95 for the body-only, so safe to say this isn’t a camera for the average photographer.
