Unveiled at the New York Toy Fair over the weekend, Mattel announced the View-Master DLX, its latest iteration of the View-Master virtual reality headset. As you can see, right off the bat the new headset looks very different from its predecessor. If anything, it looks very futuristic and something we’d expect Cyclops from the X-Men to wear.
So what’s changed? For starters it will feature improved optical lenses. It also comes with a focal adjustment for use without glasses, and it also comes with a headphone connector so that users won’t have to rely on their smartphone’s speakers for audio. There will also be new games like a labyrinth style game where one person dons the headset, and the other will read out instructions and clues from a book.
There will also be a new dinosaur-themed experience pack. The labyrinth title is expected to retail for $19.99, the dinosaur experience pack for $14.99, and the View-Master DLX for $39.99 and is expected to be released in the fall.
