Thinking of picking up either the Samsung Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge? If you are, don’t be surprised if you were to launch your phone and discover two apps missing from the handset. The missing apps are Samsung’s music and video player. Instead they have been replaced by Google Play Music and Play Movies.
This more or less corroborates an earlier rumor which suggested that Samsung would be cleaning up the software on their phones, and presumably they are trying to give users more of a stock Android experience by removing those apps from the phone. However if for whatever reason you prefer Samsung’s music or video player apps, you can always go ahead and download them.
They will be part of the Galaxy Essentials from the Galaxy Store, not the Google Play Store, so you will have to launch a different app store if you’d like to get those apps back. Given that stock Android has been one of the more preferred builds of Android since it is usually quite lag-free as it isn’t heavily themed/skinned, this change should appeal to fans of the platform.
Alternatively it is possible that maybe Samsung has decided that there could be more users of Google Play Music than its Samsung Music Player, and have decided to make it easier for its users to access Google’s music service. Either way it’s something to take note of if you are buying either handset.
