The good news for fans of Motorola is that Lenovo is still committed to the brand. Speaking at a meeting with reporters at MWC 2016, Motorola’s president Rick Osterloh said that the Motorola brand will not be going away anytime soon, although the full Motorola brand might become less common in the future moving forward.
Instead Osterloh repeated what Lenovo had said earlier this year in which instead of Motorola, they plan on using the Moto branding instead. Osterloh was quoted as saying, “That’s basically no change from what we were doing at Google.” It is possible that Motorola could still be used in collaborations with Verizon, but Osterloh said that they are in talks with the carrier on how to move forward in the future regarding the Droid lineup.
In the meantime, Motorola fans can also relax knowing that the company’s budget-friendly and value-for-money devices like the Moto E and Moto G will still be sticking around.
