We have seen many type of wearables, like fitness trackers, smartwatches, chest strap heart rate monitors, and etc., however none of them are able to do what the Joule does, which is deliver the wearer a dose of caffeine through their skin. Yup, you read that right, this is a bracelet that if you were to wear, will deliver you caffeine through your skin throughout the day.
How it works is simple: on the underside of the bracelet, there contains a FDA-approved patch. Each patch is worth about a cup of coffee, but the upside here is that the dose of caffeine is delivered to the wearer over the course of four hours, meaning that you’ll be constantly topped up throughout the day with shots of caffeine.
The upside is that unlike consuming a cup of coffee (or an energy drink) in 10-15 minutes, it won’t give you spikes of energy and jitteriness. Instead it is expected to keep you awake minus the negative side-effects, or at least that’s what we’re hearing. Speaking to Tech Insider, Adam Paulin, a cofounder of Joule said, “Joule was created to help caffeine consumers emphasize the highs of their caffeine consumption experience while eliminating the lows. All while looking stylish.”
We have to say that this is one of the best ideas we’ve ever heard and right now, its creators have turned to Indiegogo to help fund the bracelet and make it a reality, so if you’d like to lend a helping hand, surf on over to Indiegogo’s website for the details.
