Given that Paczkowski has been pretty spot on with his Apple rumor reporting in the past, there is a good chance that this date could hold true. It would also make sense because Apple is expected to have a showdown with the government on the 22nd of March with regards to the encryption on the iPhone belonging to one of the terrorists in the San Bernardino case.
Interestingly enough, their sources have also told them that this event will be a smaller one than Apple’s previous one. Last year’s event introduced the Apple Watch’s availability as well as the new 12-inch Retina MacBook. We haven’t really heard much about new products save for the 4-inch iPhone, so we guess that makes sense.
In terms of announcements, we can most probably look forward to the iPhone SE/Pro, as well as a new iPad which is supposed to be a 9.7-inch model of the iPad Pro (basically dropping the “Air” moniker). There are talks about a minor Apple Watch refresh, and we wouldn’t be surprised if there were MacBook-related announcements as well.
