There’s no shortage of wearable devices geared towards those who want to live a healthy and active lifestyle. There are smartwatches, fitness bands, activity trackers and much more. A shoe is something you wear so if it was kitted with some gadgetry technically it will be a wearable device as well. That’s what IOFIT is and it wants to be your personal trainer.
The IOFIT smart shoe is developed by Salted Venture, a startup that’s backed by Samsung, the shoe uses a combination of pressure sensors and a companion coaching app to improve the user’s balance and body posture to further enhance the fitness routine.
The app lets users evaluate their form as they get to see respective real-time data on the screen. This is the core feature of the companion app it allows users to better visualize how they look and how their posture and stance are affecting their fitness routine or even their golf swing.
Customizable coaching and analysis software is also another important feature of the app which can be used to compare saved videos and leave feedback. This tool allows a coach to draw directly on the video and provide voice-over comments to give straightforward and precise feedback.
Salted Venture is going to demonstrate IOFIT at the Mobile World Congress 2016 next week in Barcelona. The smart shoe will arrive later this year.
