Luxury watchmaker Hublot has recently taken the wraps off one of their latest designs, the Hublot Big Bang Unico Sapphire watch. As the name and the photos would suggest, this is a watch made from sapphire. No, not the whole watch, but rather its chassis which is made from sapphire, which also happens to be one of the hardest materials to machine.
By using a sapphire case (which is also see through), Hublot is able to show off its proprietary Unico movement that thanks to a transparent resin dial, makes it look like it is floating within the watch casing. It is truly a sight to behold. Other materials used in the watch include titanium, like the screws, crown, and strap-release system.
The strap itself is made from a translucent silicone. Unsurprisingly the Big Bang Unico Sapphire will not come cheap. It is a limited edition watch that is limited 500 pieces, with each piece priced at $57,900. It is expected to be displayed come March at Baselworld.
