Horse Photobomb Stirs Up Controversy In Winning Selfie

Who would have thought that a horse photobombing your holiday shot could have helped you win a competition? Certainly not 31-year-old David Bellis, who was chosen to be the winner of a Thomson Holidays competition after he snapped a selfie with his three-year-old son, with the horse making a pose behind as well over in North Wales. Placing his entry in Thomson’s #MadeMeSmile social media competition, this rather amusing selfie was top pick among the entries.

It seems that Bellis’ joy was curtailed, when word went around of this photogenic horse in a selfie, and the horse’s owner, Nicola Mitchell, said, “I didn’t give him permission to use our horse in a competition. I will be phoning Thomson Holidays to tell them what has gone on but I don’t know what they will do.” Mitchell claims that since their family’s horse was part of the photo, they too, should be on the receiving end of something from either Thomson Holidays or Bellis. After all, no horse, no winner, right? Mitchell ranted on, “I didn’t even know that this competition was on. If I had known about it, we would have entered it ourselves and could have won, as Betty is always sticking out her tongue.”

Of course, for the vast majority of people who saw Mitchell’s complaint, defended Bellis on Thomson Holidays’ Facebook page. Thomson Holidays has looked into the matter, and confirmed that Bellis will indeed be picking up his prize, no worries. All’s well that ends well without any horsing around, right? At least this is one selfie that did not end up in a tragedy.
