Most of us have probably sat in a sports car or two in our lives. Some of us might even own sports cars capable of hitting top speeds in an insane amount of time, but we’re sure that not many can brag about having been in a drag race car before. If you haven’t, don’t worry you’re not alone.
However thanks to a helmet-mounted camera, former NHRA champion Shawn Langdon gives us a taste of what it might be like to sit in such a car. This is a Top Fuel dragster that is capable of going from 0-300mph in about 4 seconds. To be more specific, the car managed to cover about a 1/4 mile in 3.77 seconds at 317mph.
If you’d like a bit of perspective on that, other sports cars like the Porsche 918 Spyder can only cover that distance in 10 seconds at 145mph. Granted that is still pretty damn fast for a car that you could see on the road, but when put side by side against the Top Fuel dragster, it almost makes it look downright slow.
If you have a couple of minutes to spare, you’ll want to check out the video above to get a taste of what it might be like. We reckon it would be even more awesome in a virtual reality setting, but for now we’ll take what we can get.
