However according to GoPro’s CEO Nick Woodman, “When you give consumers too many choices, you confuse them, and they may end up buying nothing.” So which cameras will be cut? The good news is that the flagships will remain, which includes the GoPro Hero4 Session, Silver, and Black.
The bad news is that videographers on a budget will soon no longer be able to purchase GoPro’s cheaper cameras. This means that you can wave goodbye to the GoPro Hero, Hero+ LCD, and the Hero+ which was launched last September and was the entry-level model for GoPro’s lineup.
This is admittedly rather disappointing as it provided a more affordable way for customers to get into action videos. Presumably it did not exactly take off the way GoPro imagined, hence the cut. Note that this cut will only take place in April, so until then you can still go ahead and purchase them. In the meantime, GoPro is also expected to announce a new flagship camera in the form of the GoPro Hero5. No word on when, but if you wanted a new camera, perhaps you could wait and see what kind of specs and features it packs.
