According to a post by Google on their official blog, the company has announced that they will now start listing AMP webpages in its mobile search more prominently, thus allowing users to see which websites might be AMP-ready so that you know which to click on if you’re trying to save yourselves a couple of seconds.
Google writes, “Now when you search for a story or topic on Google from a mobile device, webpages created using AMP will appear when relevant in the Top Stories section of the search results page. Any story you choose to read will load blazingly fast—and it’s easy to scroll through the article without it taking forever to load or jumping all around as you read. It’s also easy to quickly flip through the search results just by swiping from one full-page AMP story to the next.”
The company also boasts the AMP websites load four times faster on average, and apparently uses 10 times less data than non-AMP sites. This means that if you’re looking to save time, data, and potentially battery, AMP sites might be a good idea.
