Gmail for Android has been updated today with two new features. The features are aimed at making it easier for users to manage their inbox on the go. Matthew Izatt, Product Manager, Gmail wrote in the official blogpost that more than two-thirds of all Gmail users check email with their phones which is why it’s essential more than ever to provide them with an amazing mobile experience.
Rich text formatting is now supported in the official Gmail for Android app. It enables you to add bold, italic, underlined, colored and highlighted text to your email from within the mobile app. The options will come in handy when making a point or emphasizing the important bits in an email.
Instant RSVPs have also been added to the official app. If you use Google Calendar or Microsoft Exchange, calendar invitations will now include a one-tap option to show your schedule and to respond. This eliminates the need to open separate apps to RSVP to events.
It’s a small update but it will prove to be very useful for users who rely on Gmail for Android to take care of all their emailing needs. The features are only available to Android users right now but they may very well be added to the iOS app down the road.
