Foursquare Wants In On The Food Delivery Business

foursquare deliveryAs you might have heard, Uber has expanded beyond just ferrying people around, to ferrying food around and right to your doorstep. Now it looks like Foursquare wants in on the action as well. While the app started out as a service that allowed users to check into locations they have visited, the platform has evolved over the years to providing reviews of said places, and now they want to deliver you your food as well.

No, Foursquare will not actually deliver your food, but rather they are partnering up with Delivery.com and Button to handle the logistics. The upside here is that if you are a Foursquare user, you will be able to browse various restaurants and shops that are partnered with delivery.com.

However we should point out that Foursquare will not actually allow users to place an order within the app itself. Instead it will launch delivery.com’s app, so if you don’t have it installed, you will need to install it for it to work. It is admittedly a bit troublesome, but if you use Foursquare to discover new places, or if you’re not from around the area, then this should make it pretty easy.

According to David Ban, Director of Business Development, Foursquare, “At Foursquare, we’re obsessed with providing the best experiences for our users, so we like working with Button to fast-track new features. We love being able to offer market-specific services that enrich consumer experiences and help consumers connect with great local merchants — like through delivery via delivery.com.”
