Since fitness trackers are products that we’re supposed to wear almost all the time it’s important that they be fashionable and that’s really what the companies who are in this business have been focusing on recently. Smartwatches and activity trackers are increasingly becoming more fashionable and the Alta is proof that Fitbit doesn’t want to be left behind. The company says that the Alta is a “Fitness-Forward” smart wristband that can be personalized to fit the user’s style while providing advanced health and fitness features.
Fitbit Alta has a stainless steel body with a satin finish and there’s a line of stylish interchangeable bands so that users can match it with their different looks. It’s obviously much more than just a fashion accessory.
It’s capable of tracking all-day activity, exercise and sleep. Alta has a feature called Reminders to Move that nudges the user to stay active throughout the day, it also provides visual feedback on progress and does support smart notifications.
The fitness tracker is capable of automatically recognizing activities like walking, running, elliptical, outdoor biking and more aside from recognizing sports and aerobic workouts. All of the data is synced with the Fitbit app where users can set custom goals and track their progress.
Call, text and calendar notifications are delivered to the Alta when the connected device is nearby while Fitbit promises that the wearable device will last up to five days on a single charge even though it continuously tracks activity all day and sleep all night.
Fitbit Alta is available for presale in the United States today for $129 from Fitbit.com and major retailers like Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, Nordstrom and many others. It will be released across North America next month with global availability starting in April 2016.
