So what can we expect from the EOS 80D? For those who are getting serious about photography but don’t see the need to go all in with a top of the line Canon EOS 1D X Mark II or a Nikon D5, then maybe the Canon EOS 80D might be the camera for you. Based on the specs, it certainly looks like Canon has included a ton of features and hardware that more serious photographers can appreciate.
For starters, it seems that the camera will pack a newly developed 24.2MP APS-C CMOS sensor. It will also feature a 45-point cross-type AF system, a DIGIC 6 image processing engine, improved dual pixel CMOS AF, Full HD video capture at 60fps, a 3-inch touchscreen display, built-in WiFi, and NFC, just to name a few.
Along with the camera, Canon has also announced a new EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM lens. The lens will be bundled with camera with a price tag of $1,799. Alternatively the lens can be bought by itself for $599.99, while the camera body-only will be sold at $1,199, all of which are expected to be available in March 2016.
