Apple’s MacBook Accounted For 10% Of The Notebook Market In 2015

macbookIt is obvious that when it comes to computers, both desktops and laptops, that Apple’s computers aren’t necessarily dominating the market. However it seems that in the laptop market, Apple’s lineup of MacBooks appear to be on the rise, according to a recent report by TrendForce (via MacRumors).

Based on their latest numbers, it seems that Apple’s MacBook lineup is gaining more market share and in 2015, they have managed to break the 10% mark at 10.34%. Prior to this, 2014’s numbers had them at 9.3% and in 6th place, but it looks like in a year, Apple has managed to jump to 4th place and even displaced the likes of ASUS and Acer in the process.

Note that these aren’t notebook sales, but rather notebook shipments, and shipments does not equal to sale. However it is a good indication of demand, which seems to be what Apple’s notebooks are in at the moment. Interestingly enough, TrendForce notes that overall laptop shipments are down from 175.5 million to 164.4 million from 2014 to 2015.

They are also predicting that in 2016, total shipments will be around the 159.2 million mark. It also seems that Apple will only be enjoying 4th place for one year as this year, Apple is expected to fall to fifth place with a market share of 10.3%, with ASUS returning for their position with a market share of 10.7%.
