Amazon Free Shipping Is Now More Expensive

If you tend to purchase a lot of products via Amazon then you should really consider investing in an Amazon Prime subscription. For $99 per year, the company offers free two-day shipping on millions of eligible items aside from access to its TV and music streaming service as well as its cloud storage service. Customers who don’t have a subscription and spend a set amount can also get free shipping but that amount has quietly been increased.

Previously, customers only needed to have products worth $35 in the cart on checkout to get free shipping on those items but Amazon has quietly increased that requirement to $49.

The requirement is a bit different if you order has books. If the order includes $25 worth of books then you’re going to get free shipping regardless of whether or not the entire order meets the $49 requirement.

This really only concerns people who don’t shop via Amazon often but would certainly like to save a few bucks on shipping. If you’re one of those customers just be sure that you meet the requirement the next time you shop, or be prepared to pay extra for shipping.

Amazon is certainly trying to push more of its customers to get a Prime subscription that comes with the guarantee of free two-day shipping on eligible items, if you shop often the subscription really does pay for itself over time.
