According to a report from the Taipei Times (via PocketNow), it seems that Acer’s CEO Jason Chen revealed to the Taiwanese press that the company has been working on virtual reality products for a while now, and that they will be launching VR-related products in the first half of the year that will surprise everyone.
Unfortunately it’s really anyone’s guess as to what that might be, but who knows, perhaps Acer will show some of their prototype and demo units off at MWC 2016 next week. Right now virtual reality products exist in two forms – all-inclusive units like the HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, and PlayStation VR, or smartphone-powered headsets like the Google Cardboard and Samsung Gear VR.
However like we said, it is not clear what route Acer will be taking, or maybe they will be taking a completely and unexpected route that has yet to be discovered. In any case we’ll just have to wait and see what the company might have in store for us.
