According to the folks at BuzzFeed News, that could soon be a possibility. They have learnt that YouTube is apparently working on developing the ability to allow users to livestream 360-degree videos to their platform. This means that the next time there is a live concert, a live event like a news broadcast or sports game, you could be there right at the action.
Of course such livestreaming capabilities are already possible thanks to apps like Meerkat, Periscope, and Facebook’s Live Video which is now open to all, but to be able to livestream 360-degree video will be a new experience. Right now there are certain devices that do allow 360-degree livestreams, but their quality does leave a lot to be desired.
Hopefully with YouTube’s tech, the stitching quality of the videos will be a lot better, especially during live broadcasts. Take it with a grain of salt for now, but if the idea of good quality live 360-degree videos of sports or concerts tickles your fancy, check back with us later for more updates on this rumored feature.
