The last Harry Potter movie we saw was back in 2011 with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. With the franchise being so lucrative, it’s hard to imagine its creator and author of the books, J.K. Rowling, to call it an end of the day on the series, which is why we’re sure many fans were thrilled when ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ was announced.
For those unfamiliar, ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ is a movie that is based in the Harry Potter universe. It does not star Harry Potter, but it is related to the series and is based on the book of the same title in 2011. Now the good news is that the movie isn’t a one-off movie, but rather it is the first in a new trilogy, according to Rowling.
In a post on Twitter, Rowling confirmed that the movie will be the first in a trilogy of movies, meaning that Harry Potter fans will be still be inundated with material from the Potter universe for some time to come. The release dates of the other 2 movies have yet to be confirmed, but ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ has been confirmed for a release in November 2016, so that’s worth looking forward to.
For those unfamiliar, the movie is based around the character Newt Scamander and a briefcase of dangerous creatures that escapes and wreaks havoc on the magical and non-magical world. It is also set in 1926 meaning that all of this takes place well before the events in Harry Potter. In the meantime the trailer for the movie can be seen above if you haven’t seen it already.
