Last year Huawei launched the P8 Lite, and according to our review, we found it to be a rather sleek-looking handset that packed specs that made it a value for money purchase. It seems that we weren’t alone in our thinking because according to recent figures released by Huawei, they have revealed that they have shipped 10 million units of the handset to date.
Note that the number of units shipped does not equal to the number of units sold. However it is a very good sign because why would Huawei ship that many if there wasn’t a demand for them, or if they didn’t think that they could sell them, right? Huawei further reveals that their P8 series has been quite a success, managing to reach over 16 million people globally.
According to Huawei, the P8 Lite helped to build a strong 2015 for the company as they managed to shit 108 million smartphones in 2015, which apparently represented a 44% increase from the previous year. Huawei also points out that the P8 Lite is the first Huawei smartphone that managed to achieve higher sales in global markets than in China.
Companies like Huawei, Xiaomi, Oppo, and Meizu are typically launched in China and at most find their way to other Asian markets, so for once to outsell their home market is quite an achievement.
