Ziro Hand Controlled Robotics Kit

ziro-1[CES 2016] No, wearing the green and white colored glove that you can see in the photo gallery right after the jump does not automatically grant you the dancing powers that the King of Pop, Michael Jackson had, but it would certainly make you feel as though you were a Jedi with the ability to control electronics and other devices with but a simple wave of your hand or fingers. Enter Ziro, a modular robotics kit that consists of individual mechanized motor modules which can be controlled via the mentioned wireless smart glove.

The robot demonstrated on the showfloor included a mock R2-D2 (definitely not Disney-licensed), as well as the four wheeled rover of sorts that you see above. These happen to be pre-made starter kits, where Ziro modules are attached so that they can animate your creations via the continuous rotational or hinge movements.

A smartphone app is crucial in configuring the modules via the pre-made programming templates, and if you feel that you are up to the task, there is also the option of inputting your own custom gestures. Basically, whenever you move, your creation moves with you, too. Seems like a fun way to introduce the younger ones to science and programming, don’t you think so?
