Xiaomi is a Chinese company known for their cheap and affordable smartphones, and while cheap sometimes equates to bad specs, we suppose what has helped Xiaomi stand out is the fact that despite being cheap, the specs on their phones are actually pretty decent. The company’s latest smartphone, the Redmi 3, is no exception.
The handset has been rumored about for a while and we have seen Xiaomi slowly tease and confirm its specs. However for those who are curious about the phone in full, here’s what you can expect from the Redmi 3. The phone will pack a 5-inch 720p HD display. Under the hood, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 chipset can be found, accompanied by 2GB of RAM.
There will be 16GB of onboard storage that can be expanded via microSD, a 13MP rear-facing camera with phase detection autofocus, a 5MP front-facing camera, dual SIM support, and the best part is that it packs a 4,100mAh battery. Considering its low display resolution and its chipset, this phone won’t exactly be a powerhouse meaning that the 4,100mAh battery should last you quite a while.
So how much will the Redmi 3 cost? It will be going on sale in China tomorrow where it will be priced at RMB699, which when converted is roughly $106. Unfortunately Xiaomi won’t be selling it stateside, at least not officially, so for those who want to get their hands on it, you’ll have to try grey market imports.
