Gone are the days when using a black car service meant you’d have to pay out of your nose. Ride-sharing services like Uber have not only made it much easier but also cheaper to get a black car on-demand, and if you’re one of the nearly 70,000 people who will be heading to see the Super Bowl 50 in person then you’d be glad to know that Uber has been selected as the official car service for Super Bowl 50.
This is actually the first time that Uber has been allowed to ferry people to the Super Bowl stadium. Uber and its rivals have been locked out of Super Bowl stadiums in the past due to rules set by the home city as well as traffic restrictions.
The Super Bowl Committee has confirmed to Quartz that Uber will be responsible for all logistics on game day, that includes transportation, Uber is believed to have paid as much as $500,000 in cash to sponsor the Super Bowl Host Committee and get exclusivity over the event. No other ride sharing company will be allowed to offer its service to people heading to the Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
Uber will have designated pickup and drop-off zones at the stadium aside from having the peace of mind that its rivals aren’t allowed anywhere near the stadium. Taxis will be allowed though so if fans want to take a regular cab instead they can do that.
