Uber has certainly changed the way getting around works – by making things more efficient, and at the same time, give cabbies a run for their money, although not all governments are convinced that Uber is good for the local economy. Having said that, while Uber has made use of driver smartphones to keep tabs on whether the driver is speeding or not, what happens when an Uber driver has to pick up a drunk passenger? Handling an inebriated passenger while driving can be rather tricky, which is why Uber decided to install a Bop It toy at the back seat of its cars in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The reason behind this is to make sure that drunk riders will keep themselves occupied or even entertained, so that the driver does not get distracted and everyone gets to go home safe and sound at the end of the day. Just in case you are wondering what Bop It is, this toy by Hasbro will sport a range of handles, cranks, and switches which will call out audio commands, challenging players to follow directions – including “bop, pull, and twist [their] way to victory.”
It remains to be seen just how this initiative will pan out in the end, but hey, if one does not try, one will never know, right?
