For those of you who happen to rely a whole lot on Twitter in terms of your communication and social media work, then chances are you would have experienced what was described as a “major interruption” earlier today – and this particular outage was not limited to just those of us living in the US, but also over in Europe as well as the Middle East. Normal service has since been resumed, but the Twitter website did maintain its stand that, “Some users are currently experiencing problems accessing Twitter. We are aware of the issue and are working toward a resolution.”
Word has it that the outage began at 8:27am London time (3:27am EST over in the US), where the outage held out for over a couple of hours. This was after Twitter users on both mobile and Web platforms had experienced intermittent issues on Monday, and it remains to be seen as to whether the problem that happened yesterday was related to the outage of today.
Down Detector claims that 49% of the outage hailed from the Twitter website itself, with 30% arriving from the Apple iPad Twitter app, whereas the remaining 21% were reported as complaints through Twitter’s Android app. I guess what is more important and urgent is the fact that Twitter is up and running nicely now, allowing you to see integrated Periscope broadcasts as well.
