The Tesla Model S sedan has been around for a few years now and it is arguably one of the most all electric cars that money can buy, granted that it’s a lot of money, but the car has been very well received. Word on the street is that Tesla may be considering a redesign of the Model S in 2016 possibly making it look a bit like the recently unveiled Model X crossover.
The Model X was unveiled late last year and it’s the first SUV made by Elon Musk’s car company, as it to be expected from a Tesla car, it features some crazy new features.
Take its air-filtration system for example, which is capable of withstanding nuclear fallout, or the fact that its falcon-wing doors look supremely cool and are actually useful. Not to mention the fact that it features a “ludicrous” acceleration mode which gets the car going so fast that it puts some fuel-powered supercars to shame.
There’s already a high-performance version of the Model S so really a redesign will have to do more with actually making the Model S a bit more like the Model X, and the company will presumably do this to create a bit more space in its lineup for the Model 3, which is going to be Tesla’s first electric car priced towards the average joe.
It goes without saying that none of this has been confirmed by either Tesla or Musk himself so take the rumor with a grain of salt.
