However it looks like the war of words has come to an end as quickly as it had begun, with Legere essentially issuing an apology to the EFF. According to his post on T-Mobile’s website, “I will however apologize for offending EFF and its supporters. Just because we don’t completely agree on all aspects of Binge On doesn’t mean I don’t see how they fight for consumers. We both agree that it is important to protect consumers’ rights and to give consumers value. We have that in common, so more power to them.”
At the same time, Legere (understandably) still stands by T-Mobile’s Binge On program and what it offers to consumers. For those unfamiliar, Binge On is basically where you can stream video without it eating into your data plan. The catch is that quality will be reduced and that it is only applicable to Binge On partners, which right now are around 38 so you do have your pick.
However an issue was brought up by YouTube who claimed that Binge On basically throttled its videos, something that T-Mobile has recently admitted, although Legere seems to prefer the term “optimized”.
