Tens of thousands of people will be heading to the Levi’s Stadium to watch Super Bowl 50 so there will be an unusual influx of people in the Bay Area. Verizon has already detailed how it’s making a long-term investment of $70 million to enhance network performance in the area and now T-Mobile has outlined similar initiatives. Magenta says that it’s improving its network capacity ahead of Super Bowl 50 that’s going to take place on February 7th, 2016.
The carrier says that it has added capacity on 150 cell sites which provide coverage to 32 venues that will be hosting events for the upcoming Super Bowl. Sites near three major airports and nearby hotels will also get enhanced capacity.
It has also rolled out temporary cell sites on rooftops and Cell On Wheels just to have more capacity on the network and ensure that speeds don’t significantly decrease near Justin Herman Plaza, Moscone Center, and Levi’s Stadium.
At the stadium itself, T-Mobile has made an upgrade to its Distributed Antenna System to provide more reliability in this high traffic area, antenna array around the stadium and other important venues also get upgrades.
It goes without saying that mobile networks in and around key venues will be absolutely slammed on Super Bowl Sunday which is why carriers like T-Mobile and Verizon are making efforts to make sure that their customers have a reliable experience, because if they don’t, they will have some choice words to say about their carrier for sure.
