In a post on the PlayStation Blog, Sony has announced that they will be merging all their PlayStation businesses under a new name: Sony Interactive Entertainment. This is the result of a merger between Sony Computer Entertainment (or SCE which some of you guys might be familiar with) and Sony Network Entertainment.
According to Sony’s Shawn Layden, “The formation of SIE will create an even stronger PlayStation. That means an even bigger emphasis on developing pioneering platforms like PS4 and PlayStation VR, world-class games from our World Wide Studios development teams, and innovative network services such as PlayStation Vue.”
The newly-formed entity will be led by Andrew House and it will be based out of San Mateo, California. We’re not sure what this will mean for consumers, but hopefully it will be a leaner and more efficient Sony that we can look forward to.
